Constructed of a simple silk jersey, the exterior of this full length dress is deceptively simple. But once you look inside you realize that it is carefully constructed with a full lining in a beautiful and fine silk chiffon. At the time this was made this type of fabric would have been cutting edge and an important progression in fabric. Designers like Givenchy would have been in the forefront of using this type of fabric in long dresses rather then more for,al silks or brocades. These jerseys allowed then the freedom of using bright prints with true, bold colors that held perfectly. I love the mix of colors used in this dress. The neckline is softly scooped and the bodice fitted with a button front. Long sleeves end in a pretty cuff. The skirt is a masterpiece - it is not until you are close that you realize that it is set in fine, flat pleats that circle the hips and the open out to add volume and movement in the skirt. A very fine and beautiful dress. Excellent, appears unworn condition.

Lined through the bodice ans skirt in a black silk chiffon with the sleeves left unlined. It closes down the front to just below the waist with buttons. Each cuff buttons to close. Original tie belt. Hand finished.
